Suriname GranMorgu offshore oil development

Overview

The GranMorgu offshore oil and gas project in Suriname is progressing toward a 2028 production target. TotalEnergies has already invested approximately US$ 6 billion of an estimated US$ 12 billion total, with the project currently in its implementation phase.

Surinamese President Jennifer Simons has highlighted the need for national investment in infrastructure and education to ensure the sector benefits the local economy. Currently, over 100 Surinamese companies are providing services to the project, and employment is expected to reach 6,000 direct and indirect jobs once fully developed.

In addition to the ongoing development of the GranMorgu field—which is based on the Sapakara and Krabdagu discoveries and is expected to utilize a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel—TotalEnergies has announced new offshore exploration campaigns in Block 58 scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
