Suspicious deaths in Istanbul

Overview

In September 2026, two separate deaths were reported in Istanbul. In the Başakşehir district, 24-year-old Eray Deniz Sarı was found lifeless in an empty field in the Güvercintepe neighborhood. In the Fatih district, 40-year-old İsa Çam was discovered within the city walls in the Mevlanakapı neighborhood. In both instances, bodies were transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute for investigation.

In October 2026, authorities investigated the suspicious death of 48-year-old Müyesser Kartav in the Sarıyer district. Kartav was found unresponsive in her bedroom by her daughter. Reports indicated that Kartav had undergone gastric bypass surgery at a private hospital in Kağıthane approximately five months prior and had experienced subsequent health issues. Her body was also sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the cause of death.
