Suzano financial performance and market outlook

Overview

Suzano reported its second-quarter 2026 financial results, highlighting improved free cash flow, increased pulp prices, and higher sales volumes in the paper segment. CEO Beto Abreu noted the company’s resilience against geopolitical volatility and rising costs in logistics, wood, and oil-linked inputs. The company also confirmed the closure of the Arbex transaction on July 1, shifting focus toward integration and deleveraging.

Following these results, Bank of America upgraded Suzano S.A. from a ‘neutral’ rating to a ‘buy’ rating, raising its price target from $10.00 to $13.00. The brokerage cited a positive outlook for a recovery in the pulp market, noting that the company’s adjusted earnings per share of $0.2822 exceeded consensus estimates.

In late August, Suzano announced it will increase eucalyptus pulp prices in Asian markets, including China, by US$20 per metric ton effective September. This represents the first price adjustment for the region since spring. Analysts from UBS BB suggested that if implemented, prices for bleached eucalyptus short fiber (BEK) could reach between US$580 and US$590 per ton, supporting the view that the market has established a floor around US$550 per ton. While demand in China has been weak, analysts from BTG Pactual noted signs of potential recovery, including rising resale prices and renewed purchasing activity, alongside cost inflation among Chinese integrated producers.
