Officials noted that these unpredictable polydrug mixtures pose a high risk of fatal overdose and complicate emergency responses.
In response to evolving drug threats, the FDA has approved Rextovy, a 4 mg naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray, for over-the-counter sale. This provides a third nonprescription nasal spray option for treating opioid overdoses in adults and children, alongside Narcan and RiVive. Authorities continue to urge the public to use naloxone and contact emergency services during suspected overdoses.
