Tails Linux distribution software updates
Overview
The Tails Project has released several updates to its privacy-focused Linux distribution.
Version 7.6 and its maintenance release, 7.6.1, introduced critical security patches, software package updates, and a new feature to assist users in bypassing Tor network connection blocking. This release also replaced the KeePassXC password manager with the GNOME tool, Secrets.
Subsequent version 7.16 included Tor Browser 16, which features a redesigned settings interface and new privacy protections. These protections include hiding potentially dangerous settings to mitigate fingerprinting risks and an optional “generic window titles” setting to prevent local applications from identifying visited websites. This version also updated the Tor client and restored OpenPGP functionality for Thunderbird.
