Tarja Turunen and Apocalyptica musical collaboration
Overview
Tarja Turunen and the Finnish cello metal band Apocalyptica have released a new single and music video titled ‘Tango’. The track is featured on Turunen’s latest studio album, ‘Frisson Noir’, which is described as her heaviest solo work to date.
The song combines tango-inspired rhythms with Apocalyptica’s cello arrangements, heavy guitars, and drums, accompanied by Turunen’s operatic vocals. Turunen noted the collaboration was a “dream come true” due to her long-standing appreciation for the cello.
A limited-edition 10-inch vinyl single, containing 500 copies, is scheduled for release on November 27, 2026. This edition will include the album version of ‘Tango’ along with two exclusive, previously unreleased recordings: ‘Tää Tango – Piano Demo’ and ‘Tää Tango – Band Demo’.
