In late July 2026, Tata Power’s solar manufacturing arm, TP Solar, reported a record first-quarter output of 1,001 MW of modules and 862 MW of cells. This performance drove a 53% revenue rise and a 287% profit jump. The company is advancing a 10-GW ingot-and-wafer facility, having secured land in the Gopalpur SEZ, and aims to export 2-3 GW of solar equipment to Italy to align with the EU Net-Zero Industry Act. Simultaneously, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) is expanding its generation and storage footprint. The company began construction on an 800 MW hybrid wind-solar project in Andhra Pradesh, featuring a 400 MW solar plant, a 400 MW wind farm, and a 25 MW/50 MWh battery system. This project includes a 200 MW firm-and-dispatchable allocation for NTPC and is positioned to support future green hydrogen and ammonia exports. By late August 2026, TPREL commissioned a 190.5 MW solar and dispatchable renewable energy project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This facility includes a 115 MWh advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed to enhance grid reliability. Developed under SJVN's Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Tranche-1, the project will supply electricity to the Haryana Power Purchase Centre, MSEDCL, facility includes a 115 MWh advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and NPCL, utilizing utilizes technologies like Harmonic Filter Banks to maintain stability. Together, these developments reflect support grid stability for clients including HPPC, MSEDCL, and NPCL. Additionally, TPREL commissioned a 72.5 MW captive solar project in Bikaner for Tata Power’s scaling Steel Limited. Utilizing 171,360 modules manufactured by TP Solar Limited, the project aims to offset approximately 118,856 tonnes of integrated manufacturing, hybrid generation, carbon emissions annually. With this commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.3 GW, with 7 GW currently operational and advanced energy storage capabilities. 5.3 GW in various stages of implementation.
