The Juan Manuel Fangio Autodrome in Balcarce has officially reopened following a 15-year hiatus, supported by a 3.314 billion peso investment. The renovations included track redefinition, improved safety zones, upgraded facilities, and renovated pits and lighting. The reopening ceremony was attended by Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof and ACTC President Hugo Mazzacane, marking the return of national motorsport competitions such as the TC Pick Up, TC Pista Pick Up, and Turismo Special de la Costa series. Officials state the circuit’s return will serve as a “significant driver for local tourism and the regional economy,” specifically benefiting the hospitality and gastronomy sectors. Following the reopening, the circuit hosted massive crowds ranging from 27,000 20,000 to over 40,000 spectators. In the TC Pick Up category, Hernán Palazzo secured his first victory in 40 races driving a Toyota Hilux after an intense battle with local driver Diego Ciantini, while Antonino Sganga claimed victory in the TC Pista Pick Up category. The Turismo Special de la Costa also returned to the circuit with 18 vehicles. In a broader development for Argentine motorsport, the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires is also undergoing major renovations, which are currently over 60% complete. This modernization project aims to meet international standards and includes a new track configuration, such as a new hairpin, designed to potentially host Formula 1. Additionally, MotoGP has officially confirmed its return to the Gálvez circuit for the Argentine Grand Prix, scheduled for April 9 to 11, 2027, marking the championship’s return to the city after 28 years.
