Overview
Thai authorities have conducted a series of raids targeting large-scale illegal gambling operations. On September 18, 2026, the ‘Prab Sian Nakhon Phing’ operation in Chiang Mai resulted in the raid of two permanent dens in the Chang Phueak and Mueang Chiang Mai districts. Over 100 individuals were detained, and more than 2 million baht in cash and chips were seized. Following this, a raid on September 23, 2026, at the Din Daeng residential flats led to the arrest of 53 individuals and the seizure of nearly 1 million baht in cash and chips.
In both instances, the Ministry of Interior has launched intensive investigations into the operations. Authorities are focusing on identifying the true owners, including investigating the involvement of a Cambodian national in the Din Daeng case. A central component of these investigations is determining whether state officials were complicit or negligent. Officials have stated that any government employees found to be involved will face the “highest level of criminal and disciplinary action.”
