Thailand economic stimulus programs
Overview
The Thai government has implemented various economic stimulus initiatives to support citizens and local businesses. The ‘Thai Kuay Thai Plus’ program, which utilizes a 60/40 co-payment model between the state and citizens, has seen cumulative spending exceed 138.38 billion baht. As of early September 2026, approximately 26 million people were eligible for the program, which distributed funds across general retail and food delivery services to alleviate living costs.
Building on these efforts, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has proposed a new initiative titled ‘Thai Thiao Thai Plus’ to stimulate the economy through domestic travel. Scheduled for Cabinet submission in late September, this project aims to use a 4 billion baht loan budget to provide 1 million rights for accommodation subsidies and co-payment coupons. The program is expected to target travel services in both major and secondary cities, with the goal of generating an economic circulation of over 20 billion baht.
