Thailand flooding and crocodile displacement
Overview
Severe flooding across Thailand, including a state of disaster in Bangkok, has caused significant damage to residential areas and infrastructure. In Sa Kaeo province, heavy rainfall and overwhelmed drainage systems led to the escape of four crocodiles approximately 2 meters long, forcing residents to seek safety in trees.
As flooding continued in Prachinburi province, authorities conducted an emergency rescue at Wat Pho Thong temple. Rescuers used a crane-equipped truck to relocate a 400 kg crocodile, named Nuea Thong, after floodwaters rose to 1.3 meters around its enclosure. The animal was moved to a temporary holding facility 20 km away.
