The ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ franchise has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 57 million copies in cumulative global sales across its light novels and manga, which are translated into 16 languages. In conjunction with this commercial success, a third season of the anime series has been announced. The season is scheduled to premiere on October 2, 2026, in Japan, and will be split into two parts, with the second half expected to air in April 2027. Ahead of its release, the third season topped a Fall 2026 anticipation ranking in Japan, receiving 515 votes and placing ahead of titles such as ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ remake. To celebrate the upcoming season, a ‘Summer Garden Party 2026’ event was held at Pacifico Yokohama featuring live performances by the main cast, including Aoi Yuki and Takehito Koyasu. Additionally, a collaboration event with Tokyo City View, titled ‘A Fantasy World Woven by Dance —Melody of Dance Resonating in the Sky—’, recently completed its first month of operation. This immersive exhibition at an altitude of 250 meters featured a special three-screen theater and a Spotify-exclusive audio guide voiced by Aoi Yuki and Tsuyoshi Otsuka. New promotional material for the third season includes a trailer and an opening theme song, ‘Kumo o Nukekazashimo e Watashidake’, performed by Yorushika. A new feature film, ‘The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress’ Treasure’, is slated for release in Japanese theaters on December 11, 2026. Further expanding the franchise, a collaboration between the anime series, Kimono Rental VASARA, and the Kabukiza theater runs from September 15 to October 31, 2026. Prime Video has also announced a live-action series adaptation scheduled for a worldwide exclusive release in 2028. Commercial expansion continues with several new initiatives.
