The Golden Life series production and cast tensions

Overview

The upcoming E! series ‘The Golden Life’ follows former ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ stars as they relocate to Palm Beach, Florida. Early promotional footage for the show highlighted interpersonal tensions, specifically between Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan regarding their mutual ex, Tom D'Agostino. A trailer for the series showcased Morgan making comments about D'Agostino's readiness to marry, which appeared to irritate de Lesseps.

Leading up to the series premiere, the cast members—including de Lesseps, Morgan, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, and Kelly Bensimon—received the Golden Kettle lifetime achievement award at the second-annual ‘Virtual Reali-Tea’ Awards. While de Lesseps expressed that she joined the project to reconnect with former castmates, Morgan alleged that she has faced ‘bullying’ and ‘slepting’ from her colleagues intended to use information against her on camera, stating she maintains distance from them when not filming to avoid being made to ‘look less than.’

During the awards event, Ramona Singer discussed her transition to Florida and her role in the new series, describing herself as a ‘peacemaker’ who feels ‘much calmer’ in her current life. Singer also commented on professional etiquette, labeling the practice of bringing beverages to interviews as ‘unprofessional’ and ‘rude.’

The series officially premiered on E! on October 20. The inaugural season features footage of yacht parties, a weekend in Miami, and various Palm Beach events, with additional episodes set in the Hamptons planned for early next year. Recurring guests for the latter half of the season are expected to include Candace Bushnell and Margaret Josephs.
