THE ROYAL EXPRESS luxury rail itineraries

Overview

Tokyu Corporation and its partners have announced various luxury rail itineraries for ‘THE ROYAL EXPRESS’ in 2027.

In Hokkaido, Tokyu and JR Hokkaido will transition the brand to the new ‘Akai Hoshi’ (Red Star) train set for a summer cruise series in August and September 2027. The itineraries include routes through eastern Hokkaido and the Hakodate Main Line, featuring wood-heavy decor and tatami-matted rooms to promote regional tourism.

Tokyu and Izu Kyuko have finalized winter 2027 plans for the ‘THE ROYAL EXPRESS Izu Trip’, running from January 8 to January 31, 2027. The itineraries include the ‘Irodori Kirameku Shimoda Cruise Plan’, a one-night, two-day trip featuring geo-guide tours and high-end dining such as French, Japanese, and Edomae sushi. The ‘Tourei Shirofuji Cruise Plan’ is a two-night, three-day itinerary centered on West Izu, featuring stays at Michelin-selected accommodations like Fugaku Gunjo and the historic Numazu Club, alongside musical performances.

Applications for the Izu trips are managed via a dedicated website and mail until November 15, 2026, with participants selected by lottery. Pricing for the Shimoda plan ranges from 240,000 to 270,000 yen per person, while the Shirafuji plan is priced between 470,000 and 530,000 yen per person, based on double occupancy.
