Thefts of educational equipment in Italy
Overview
In mid-September, thieves broke into the ‘Quattro Giornate’ primary school in the Gianturco district of Naples, stealing printers, photocopiers, and multimedia whiteboards. Local officials described the raid as a ‘very serious and deplorable act’ and called for increased security in the area.
By early October, authorities reported progress in a separate theft involving the ‘Mattia De Mare’ school complex. Following a break-in where laptops and other digital equipment were stolen, Carabinieri investigators recovered a portion of the items. A 42-year-old resident was charged with receiving stolen goods, and a 35-year-old shop owner was charged after stolen computers were seized from a local business.
