Thermo Fisher institutional stake shifts

In late July 2026 First Trust Advisors LP disclosed a 37.9% reduction in its Thermo Fisher Scientific holdings, trimming its position to about 43,500 shares valued at roughly $21 million, and the company’s chief operating officer, Gianluca Pettiti, sold 400 shares under a Rule 10b5‑1 plan. A week later Edgestream Partners L.P. sold most of its Thermo Fisher stake, retaining only 645 shares (about $317,000) after a 73.2% cut. The July 28 filing reiterated First Trust’s cut and Pettiti’s insider sale, confirming the earlier trend.

On August 6, Sarasin & Partners LLP moved in the opposite direction, increasing its Thermo Fisher position by 6.8% to 266,872 shares (about $133.8 million), while UMB Financial Corporation director Susan Murphy sold 1,377 shares, reducing her personal holding by 11.5%. The mixed activity shows that while several institutions continued to scale back exposure, at least one major investor expanded its stake, highlighting divergent views on the company’s outlook during the first half of 2026.
