Greek authorities have moved the long‑delayed Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) redevelopment into an active implementation phase. On 29 July 2026 the Thessaloniki municipal council approved a 99‑year free lease of roughly 12.36 ha to DETH‑HELEXPO AE and the Hellenic Participation and Property Company, outlining a €165 million net (€204.6 million gross) project that will create a 120‑ha metropolitan park, 120‑stremmata Metropolitan Park, two new bioclimatic exhibition halls, a renovated Ioannis Vellidis conference centre and underground parking for over 1,000 cars. The plan is fully publicly funded, with contractor selection expected by the end of 2026 and construction slated to start in 2027, completing by the end of 2030. The following day the Greek National Development Fund (formerly the Super Fund) confirmed that the redevelopment has entered the An international tender phase.
