The TNA X Division Championship became vacant after Leon Slater invoked ‘Option C’ to challenge for the TNA World Championship. This led to a series of qualifying matches and a scramble match to determine a new champion. On October 2, BDE secured a position in the upcoming championship match by defeating Mr. Elegance via a rollup pin. BDE was set to compete in a six-way scramble match alongside K. C. Navarro, Fabian Aichner, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, and Ryan Nemeth at the Bound For Glory event. During the Bound For Glory event in Tampa, Florida, Amazing Red emerged as a surprise participant by announcing his involvement during his TNA Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Red won the vacant championship by pinning KC Navarro following a ‘Spanish Fly and a Canadian Destroyer’, marking his fourth time holding the title and ending a 16-year gap between championship reigns. Following his championship victory, reports indicate that the 44-year-old veteran, Jonathan Figueroa, has officially signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling. As TNA builds momentum toward the Destination X pay-per-view, X Division Champion Amazing Red is scheduled to defend his title against Cedric Alexander on the October 29 edition of TNA Impact. Other upcoming programming includes Leon Slater appearing ahead of his title defense against Trey Miguel.
