The next-generation Toyota Fortuner prototype continues undergoing road testing in Thailand. Recent sightings of the heavily camouflaged seven-seat SUV suggest a major redesign intended to address slipping popularity in several regional markets.

Spy photographs reveal significant stylistic shifts, including a more aggressive front end with a larger, more upright grille and slimmer LED lighting. While previous observations noted new horizontal tail light assemblies, recent sightings show rear lighting elements that resemble production-spec taillights rather than temporary fixtures.

Technically, the new Fortuner is expected to utilize an updated version of the IMV ladder-frame chassis shared with the Toyota Hilux. This platform may offer increased flexibility for various powertrains, including traditional diesel and petrol engines, as well as hybrid or electrified options. The presence of radar and windscreen-mounted cameras indicates the integration of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

Interior upgrades are anticipated, potentially featuring digital instrument clusters, larger infotainment screens, and improved third-row seating configurations. While Toyota has not officially confirmed a launch timeline, industry reports suggest the vehicle could debut in the Indian market as early as 2027.
