Toyota’s Land Cruiser series continues to face significant supply constraints and high demand. In Japan, the Land Cruiser FJ has seen such rapid interest that many dealerships have suspended new orders, while the Land Cruiser 70 has suspended production. The Land Cruiser 300 faces a backlog of existing contracts, whereas the Land Cruiser 250 remains available with gasoline models seeing estimated delivery times of three to five months. All these models maintain high resale value predictions. Toyota is expanding the Land Cruiser 300 series through hybrid technology. On 9 September 2026, Toyota Vietnam introduced the Land Cruiser 300 HEV, imported from Japan and priced from 4.71 billion VND. The HEV features a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine paired with an electric motor, producing 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. This system achieves a fuel consumption rate of 10 liters per 100 km, a 22.7% reduction over the gasoline version. Following the Vietnamese launch, Toyota announced that the Land Cruiser 300 hybrid powertrain will debut in the Japanese market on 1 October 2026. Available in ZX and GR SPORT trims, the Japanese hybrid system produces 457 horsepower and 80.6 kgf・m of torque. While the hybrid system increases vehicle weight by approximately 170 kg and reduces fuel tank capacity to 68 liters, it maintains a water-wading capability of 700 mm due to its sealed high-voltage battery. Toyota has designed the powertrain to allow the internal combustion engine to operate independently if the hybrid system encounters a serious failure. The Japanese lineup also includes a revised GX trim featuring a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel engine producing 307 horsepower, optimized for off-road utility with standard front and rear electric differential locks. Additionally, Toyota’s customization brand, Modellista, has launched a new accessory kit compatible with both hybrid and diesel versions. The kit includes front and rear spoilers, overfenders, and a roof spoiler intended to provide a ‘more refined, urban aesthetic’.
