Toyota vehicle recalls in Australia and UAE

Overview

Toyota has initiated several vehicle recalls in Australia and the United Arab Emirates due to mechanical and software defects.

In Australia, the company expanded a recall for Kluger models manufactured between November 2023 and June 2025. The recall affects approximately 15,000 vehicles due to a supplier fault with second-row seat return springs, which could prevent seat backs from remaining locked.

In the United Arab Emirates, Al Futtaim Motors, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy, launched campaigns affecting nearly 29,800 Land Cruiser 300 models manufactured in Japan between 2021 and 2024. The recalls address three specific issues: engine crankshaft bearing damage from manufacturing debris that may cause stalling, ECU software flaws affecting engine output during acceleration, and a 10-speed automatic transmission fault. The transmission issue is noted as particularly severe, posing risks of excessive RPMs, fluid leaks, and “potential vehicle fires”. Toyota is providing free inspections, software updates, and engine replacements to resolve these defects.
