Transparency initiatives in Tamaulipas
Overview
The Tamaulipas Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Government has undertaken several initiatives to promote transparency and combat disinformation.
In late September 2026, the state announced the winners of the third annual ‘Transparencia en Corto 2026’ contest. The competition, which featured 53 entries, focused on the theme of ‘Disinformation: Risks of AI’. Winners in short film and microvideo categories received cash prizes and will represent the state at the national level.
Following this, the state’s decentralized body, Transparencia para el Pueblo de Tamaulipas, hosted a virtual dialogue titled ‘The Right to Know: Information, Citizenship, and Democracy in the Digital Age’ to commemorate the International Day for Universal Access to Information. The session, led by Brenda González Soto, targeted public servants to discuss the importance of transparency, the right to access public information, and the institutional responsibility to uphold accountability and citizen participation.
