Tributes to Raffaella Carrà in Italy

Overview

Tributes to the late Italian entertainer Raffaella Carrà have emerged through different mediums in Italy. In September, the city of Bologna inaugurated a mural by artist Daniele Pulcinelli on via Angelo Michele Colonna. The project, initiated by the association ShowLove, aimed to celebrate Carrà as a symbol of freedom and self-affirmation. Bologna's municipal councilor for culture, Daniele del Pozzo, noted that Carrà served as a symbol of hope regarding the freedom to be a woman.

By October, a different form of tribute was announced: a hologram concert titled ‘Raffaella Carrà – The Show Must Go On’, scheduled to debut on December 28 at the Atlantico in Rome. The production, involving Laserman Industries, uses hologram technology, live dancers, and 3D laser effects to recreate the artist’s presence. This initiative has faced criticism from Angelo Perrone, a former press officer for Carrà, who described the hologram as a ‘fake, fictitious representation’ motivated by commercial interests.

Further tributes have been announced involving orchestral performances. Serena Autieri will lead ‘Serena Autieri canta Raffaella. Tributo sinfonico a Raffaella Carrà,’ a symphonic tour directed by Maestro Roberto Molinelli. Accompanied by the Orchestra Magna Grecia, the tour includes dates in Taranto, Bisceglie, and Materia in late October, with subsequent performances in Messina scheduled for February 2025.
