Turismo Carretera racing season developments

Overview

As the 2026 Turismo Carretera championship nears its conclusion, the ACTC is managing the final rounds of the season while beginning preparations for 2027. With only three races remaining—Rosario, Río Cuarto, and La Plata—the series is preparing for a return to Río Cuarto on November 14 and 15 at the renovated Autódromo Parque Ciudad de Río Cuarto. This event serves as the penultimate round for both the championship and the Copa de Oro.

The championship recently returned to the Juan Manuel Fangio Municipal Autodrome in Rosario for the 13th round, marking the series’ first visit to the circuit in seven years. The event featured 51 registered drivers and drew more than 40,000 spectators. In the “Copa de Oro” mini-tournament, Facundo Chapur entered the race as the leader with a 1.5-unit lead over Julián Santero, followed by Otto Fritzler in third. The race weekend featured a dominant performance by Uruguayan driver Mauricio Lambiris.

Following the Rosario event, local reports indicate a significant economic boost for the city. The return of the racing series, alongside the Festival Bandera, contributed to a weekend hotel occupancy rate of 97% and attracted over 120,000 visitors, generating an estimated economic impact of more than 11.4 billion pesos. Santa Fe Governor Maximiliano Pullaro, who attended the race, noted that such activities help position Rosario as a hub for large-scale events.

Looking ahead to the 2027 season, proposed scheduling changes include moving the opening round to the ‘Juan Manuel Fangio’ circuit in Rosario on February 13 and 14 to accommodate centennial celebrations in El Calafate.
