Turkey has initiated seabed research for a proposed 101-km undersea natural gas pipeline intended to connect the Turkish town of Anamur with the Kyrenia area in Northern Cyprus. Using the Oruç Reis seismic research vessel, the project involves conducting depth, geology, and risk assessments to support a bidirectional pipeline designed to transport gas for electricity generation. In response to the project, the Greek Cypriot administration filed a formal complaint with the United Nations.
