Turkey’s Interior Ministry announced a steep decline in motorcycle‑facilitated armed attacks, dropping from 165 incidents in the first half of last year to 46 in the same period this year – a reduction of roughly 72 %. Correspondingly, fatalities fell from 17 to nine and injuries from 81 to fifteen. Despite the overall downturn, isolated incidents continue. On 21:55 on 30 July, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at a car gallery in Istanbul’s Eyüpsultan district, wounding four people; 29‑year‑old Ensar Sever later died. Police promptly detained a 15‑year‑old suspect who fled the scene, recovered the unlicensed firearm, and launched an investigation. The episode underscores that while the broader trend is downward, the threat from motorcycle‑linked attacks remains present.
