Turkey product safety recalls and bans

Overview

The Turkish Ministry of Trade has issued multiple recalls for consumer products following safety inspections. In late July, the ministry ordered the withdrawal of PUTI brand badminton sets after they failed mandatory phthalate safety tests, citing risks to children’s health.

In mid-August, the ministry expanded its enforcement to stationery products, banning Mikro brand pencil cases. Laboratory testing indicated that these cases contained levels of phthalates and cadmium that exceeded permitted limits. The ministry utilized the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS) to initiate the removal of these products from the market.
