Turkey Torna S26 naval maneuvers

Overview

During the ‘Torna S26’ naval maneuvers in the Gulf of Antalya and the eastern Mediterranean, Turkey conducted several successful tests of unmanned systems.

On October 24, the Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) completed a reconnaissance mission to detect submarines. Operating via satellite control, the drone deployed three ‘Asel Buoy 100B’ underwater acoustic monitoring systems and one sonobuoy. This mission represented the first time an ‘Asel Buoy’ system was deployed into the sea from a drone.

Following this, the STM Tonga-X interceptor drone successfully intercepted a simulated enemy drone. The Tonga-X used radar and image-based guidance to achieve a direct mid-air hit. The system is designed to protect military units and infrastructure from low-cost suicide drones, featuring vertical take-off capabilities and a 25-kilometer operational range.
