Turkey is preparing for a major overhaul of its vehicle inspection system, scheduled to begin on August 15, 2027. The new era, which will be managed by TURKA for a 20-year period (2027–2047), involves an investment program of approximately $3 billion. billion and aims to service a fleet of 34.5 million vehicles, generating roughly 16 million annual inspections. In light of the upcoming changes, TÜVTÜRK has issued warnings regarding fraudulent websites and unauthorized payment requests, emphasizing that booking inspections is entirely free and must be conducted through official channels, such as the official website, call centers, kiosks, or e-Devlet. The new system will integrate advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence-supported image processing, high-resolution cameras, laser measurement, and robotic systems. These tools aim to reduce human error and provide more detailed error, providing technical assessments, with assessments that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stating the technology will allow for a level of inspection described as akin to a vehicle’s ‘MR or CT scan.’ Recent developments at the Arnavutköy pilot center highlight the use of AI to support imaging, digital measurements, and various scans, including underbody and bodywork inspections. Data obtained through AI assistance is converted into digital reports with visual evidence and sent instantly to main inspection systems. Additional features include digital tracking for vehicle owners, contactless tire analysis, and specialized inspection models for electric vehicles focusing on high-voltage safety and battery integrity.
