Overview

On 24‑25 July 2026 Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu launched the Yeni Parti, unveiling a 41‑page charter titled “Program for a New Party for a Common Future”. The manifesto, framed as a call for “new‑generation politics”, lists 65 articles that champion social‑democratic values – labour protection, gender equality, participatory democracy, human‑rights guarantees and a social state – while invoking active citizenship and pluralist democracy. A Party Congress held at the Anadolu Kulübü, chaired by General Chairman Özgür Özel, approved a ten‑person Central Management Board (MYK). Zeynel Emre was named spokesperson and Yunus Emre became General Secretary, with other members assigned to organisation, media, legal, local‑government and finance portfolios. The party announced plans to complete organisational structures in all 81 provinces, open online membership registration and begin accepting donations by early September, and prepare a new headquarters in Ankara, targeting 250 000 members.

With 90 former CHP deputies joining, Yeni Parti became the second‑largest parliamentary group, prompting a redesign of the General Assembly’s seating order, committee quotas and group‑room allocations.
