In August 2026, Turkey expanded its presence at European sport. This participation raised the nation's historic medal tally to 33 (12 gold, 10 silver, 11 bronze). Simultaneously, Istanbul hosted the European Senior Modern Pentathlon Championships (3-9 August) at Burhan Felek. Felek, marking the first time Turkey has hosted this specific senior European event. The championships also saw significant success for the Hungarian national team, which secured three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
