Turkey is implementing various government and academic initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, public access to nature, and youth engagement through travel.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has expanded its ‘Public Beach Project’ to 15 locations across the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Marmara regions. An Erasmus+ project coordinated by Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa recently facilitated a youth exchange between Turkish and Bulgarian students centered on ‘green recreation’. Additionally, the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ ‘Seyahatsever’ (Traveler) Project has provided free accommodation in government dormitories to encourage young people to explore the country’s heritage, benefiting over 100,000 youths during the 2026 summer period.
