Turkey CHP internal crisis and YENİ Parti rise

The political landscape in Turkey continues to shift following the formation of the YENİ Parti, led by former CHP MP Özgür Özel. The new party now controls 91 parliamentary seats and has completed organizational work in 78 of 81 provinces. Recent polling shows a significant surge for YENİ Parti; while a SONAR poll previously showed it leading with 34.3%, an August 2026 ORC Araştırma survey placed the AK Parti in first at 33.1%, with YENİ Parti in second at 17.2% and the CHP at 10.6%.
