Turkish Ministry of Trade Tesla pricing enforcement

Overview

The Turkish Ministry of Trade has issued administrative fines against automotive dealers for pricing violations involving Tesla Model Y vehicles.

In late July, the ministry fined a dealer 325,000 TL after an inspection confirmed a second-hand Model Y was listed for 2.8 million TL, exceeding the official new-car list price. Press and Public Relations Advisor Bekir Kaplan stated the penalty was part of a commitment to protect consumer rights against “price-gouging and illegal practices.”

By mid-August, further enforcement actions resulted in total fines of 434,860 TL against a company following a citizen report. This investigation found the company marketed a 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard for 2,699,000 TL, which was above the recommended zero-kilometer price. The company also faced penalties for marketing vehicles that did not meet specific age and mileage thresholds, failing to issue delivery documents, engaging in deceptive commercial practices, and failing to report a change of business address.
