Turkish municipal art workshops

In late July 2026, Didim Municipality in Turkey broadened its Çini (traditional tile) painting course, offering weekly practical sessions for participants aged 13 to over 70. The program, led by Mayor Hatice Gençay, covers design transfer, painting, glazing and firing, enabling each enrollee to produce one to two tiled pieces per week and emphasizing the preservation of regional cultural heritage.

Two days later, the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality launched a series of adult summer workshops for women at the Tek Atölye in the Süleymanpaşa district. Over two weeks, participants learned ebru (marbling), ceramics and glue‑based crafts under instructor Emel Şerifoğlu, creating marbled designs on hats, fabrics and ceramic pots, as well as decorative magnets and ornaments. The municipality announced that similar workshops will continue throughout the summer, extending community access to art and craft activities.

Later in July, municipal and university bodies across Turkey reported a slate of public events—including sports tournaments, science cafés, new parks and cultural festivals—aimed at education, recreation and social welfare. The Tekirdağ summer art workshops for women were highlighted again, illustrating that the municipality’s craft sessions are part of a wider municipal effort to provide community‑based cultural and educational programming nationwide.
