Turkish municipal sports infrastructure projects

In late July 2026, local officials in Turkey continued to promote and expand municipal sports facilities. On July 25, the heads of the Local Tradesmen and Craftsmen Associations in Ardahan inspected a new 1,500‑seat sports hall and athletics track, praising the contribution to the city’s sports infrastructure and thanking the supporting AK Party MP and mayor. The same day, the mayor of Menteşe visited the Ali Fuat Özge Sports Facility to review planned upgrades, emphasizing sports’ role in youth health and social engagement.

Two days later, on July 27, the mayor of Merkezefendi announced the construction of a Basketball Development Centre in the Bereketler neighbourhood and a Youth Park Sports Complex attached to the cultural centre, featuring multiple courts, an amphitheatre, cafés, and tennis facilities. While unveiling these projects, the mayor also met with local journalists to reaffirm the municipality’s commitment to press freedom, linking community development with civic openness.
