Turkish police operations against wanted individuals

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in Turkey have conducted significant operations to apprehend wanted individuals across different regions.

In Balıkesir, a week-long crackdown between September 7 and 13 resulted in the arrest of 97 suspects. These operations targeted narcotics, smuggling, and various other offenses, leading to the seizure of over 109,000 medicinal pills, unlicensed weapons, and large quantities of illegal tobacco and fuel. Authorities inspected more than 31,000 vehicles during this period.

In October, the Istanbul Police Department’s Wanted Persons Bureau carried out city-wide operations that led to the arrest of 52 individuals. These arrests included high-profile fugitives facing long prison sentences for crimes such as fraud, robbery, drug trafficking, and prison escape. Notable among those detained was a suspect in Büyükçekmece who had been posing as a lawyer to evade authorities.
