The Press Advertising Agency (BİK) reported providing over 5.2 billion Turkish Liras in official advertisement and announcement support to the press during the first eight months of 2026. This amount reflects a 40 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Financial support included approximately 4.2 billion TL for 117,000 official announcements and 900 million TL for 14,000 official advertisements. Through cooperation with the Credit Guarantee Fund, roughly 131 million TL was made available to approximately 60 periodical publications to assist with credit and collateral access. To address digital transformation, algorithmic journalism, and artificial intelligence, the agency has implemented various workforce and professional development initiatives. These include an ‘Active Labor Services Cooperation Protocol’ with the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) covering 1,075 press enterprises, as well as partnerships with institutions like Sakarya University to expand internship opportunities for communication students. In September 2026, BİK officially opened its Sakarya Regional Directorate, which serves media outlets in Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu, Düzce, and Zonguldak. During the opening ceremony, General Manager Abdulkadir Çay updated the support figure to over 5.258 billion TL for the first eight months of the year. He noted that the Sakarya Regional Directorate has contributed more than 268 million Liras to periodical publications within its jurisdiction since commencing operations. Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran also attended, emphasizing the role of local media in democracy and BİK’s mission to ensure fair advertisement distribution.
