Turkish regional industrial and technological development

Industrial development initiatives are advancing across different regions of Turkey, focusing on technological integration and regional cooperation.

In Bursa, the TEKNOSAB Technology Organized Industrial Zone and a new SME Organized Industrial Zone (KOBİ OSB) are driving an industrial transformation. This ecosystem aims to integrate high-quality manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainability across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and defense. Total investments in the region are projected to reach $25 billion, supported by strategic logistics and advanced infrastructure like R&D centers and clean energy.

In Erzurum, the Industry and Technology Cooperation Board (SANTEK) met at Atatürk University to discuss strategies for enhancing regional production. The focus remains on strengthening cooperation between universities, public institutions, and the private sector. Key discussions included the establishment of a ‘Model Factory’ to increase efficiency and the importance of processing raw agricultural and livestock materials into high value-added manufactured goods.

In Erzincan, the Erzincan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ETSO) conducted a workshop for its 13th Professional Group, which covers electronics, computers, and durable consumer goods. Industry representatives met to evaluate the sector’s current state and address challenges regarding logistics, supply chain management, and market expectations. The workshop aimed to integrate field experiences into ETSO’s decision-making and project development processes to shape more effective sector policies.
