Turkmenistan education and youth day celebrations

Turkmenistan has marked the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year and Knowledge and Student Youth Day through official celebrations and infrastructure developments.

Initially, the People's Council issued messages to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, framing science and education as the foundation for national development and economic strength. The council emphasized that national power is defined by the quality of educated youth rather than just natural resources.

Following these celebrations, the start of the school year was accompanied by the opening of several new educational facilities, including buildings for the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction in Ashgabat and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute in Turkmenabat, alongside new secondary schools and kindergartens. To support students, Bilimli laptop computers were distributed to children entering school for the first time. President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the goal of modernizing the national education system through innovation and advanced practices to prepare a technologically capable generation.

Recent developments emphasize a digital transformation within the education and science sectors. This includes the integration of high-speed internet, digital textbooks, and advanced computer equipment to enhance teaching effectiveness. The expansion of infrastructure continues, notably with the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, which now features a 13-story main building, eight faculties, and 28 departments, as well as residential facilities for 2,600 students and faculty housing.
