TV Globo has begun preparations for “Filhos do Divino”, a sequel to the original telenovela “Avenida Brasil”. The production, written by João Emanuel Carneiro and collaborators, is scheduled to premiere on January 25, replacing the current soap opera “Quem Ama Cuida”. Initial announcements confirmed a returning cast including Adriana Esteves, Murilo Benício, Marcos Caruso, and Cauã Reymond. While the network had not yet finalized the antagonist to Carminha, actress Débora Falabella later signed an agreement to appear in the series for its full run. Although her character, Nina, will not be the absolute protagonist, she will serve as a “key element in launching the new story”. Recent developments regarding the plot indicate that the story will center on Carminha, played by Adriana Esteves, who returns appearing repentant for her past villainy following a tragic accident involving a character named Monalisa. Casting is currently underway for a key role: the new lover of Carminha, intended to fill the narrative space previously occupied by the character Max in the original production. Actors Gabriel Fuentes, Bruno Montaleone, and Fábio Scalon are reportedly in competition for this role. Other confirmed or returning cast members include Eliane Giardini and Letícia Isnard, with Drico Alves joined as a new addition. Jéssica Ellen is also being considered for a role. Filming is expected to begin in October, with rehearsals starting in September. The production is slated to run through July or August of the following year. Further updates confirm the sequel, also referred to as “Avenida Brasil 2”, is scheduled to premiere in January 2027. In addition to the returning cast members previously mentioned, actress Karol Lannes is set to return to her role as Ágata due to fan demand.
