TV Osaka travel program cancellation
Overview
TV Osaka has announced the conclusion of its long-running travel program, ‘Otona Tabi Aruki Tabi’, which has aired since January 2009. Hosted by actor Kunihiko Mitamura, the program focuses on regional cuisine, landscapes, and travel experiences across Western Japan.
The regular broadcasts are scheduled to end on October 3, 2026. TV Osaka programming director Yasuharu Hashiba described the conclusion as a “comprehensive decision based on programming.” While rumors circulated regarding the influence of Mitamura’s social media activity, the network denied these claims, and Mitamura dismissed the rumors as “completely off target.”
The series will conclude with a two-and-a-half-hour special featuring a journey from Kyushu toward Osaka. Following the finale, the network plans to utilize program archives for best-of compilations and expanded broadcasts of existing shows, as no successor program has been designated for the time slot.
