Overview

The United Arab Emirates is implementing various initiatives to bolster its tourism sector through culinary recognition, visa incentives, and cultural integration.

In Dubai, the city has established a competitive presence in the global culinary landscape, securing more than 20 positions in the MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants rankings. Simultaneously, Abu Dhabi launched a three-month pilot program to attract Indian tourists by offering complimentary entry visas to Indian passport holders who book qualifying holiday packages.

To further enhance the visitor experience, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi introduced the Emirati Dhiyafa (Hospitality) Standards. This framework consists of 65 standards designed to integrate Emirati culture and national identity into the hotel industry. The initiative includes training hotel staff in traditional etiquette, known as ‘Al Sana’, and incorporating cultural elements such as serving traditional coffee and dates. Full implementation of these hospitality standards is expected by the first quarter of 2027.
