The 2026 summer season opened in May with the Athens Municipal Festival, featuring over 350 free activities. July saw a rapid expansion of theatrical and musical offerings, including classic Greek dramas at historic venues like Epidaurus and Messene. In late July, the Ministry of Culture’s ‘All of Greece One Culture’ programme launched eleven free productions at historic sites nationwide. By mid-August, the initiative entered its eighth week, hosting twelve original productions across various archaeological sites, monuments, and museums, such as the Acropolis of Rhodes and the Archaeological Site of Phaistos. These performances, which require advance reservation, encompass theatre, music, dance, and visual arts. From 17 to 23 August, the ‘All Greece One Culture 2026’ initiative continued with twelve productions inspired by the theme from Menander’s ‘Dyskolos’: ‘How beautiful a man is when he is truly a man’. Scheduled events included the dance piece ‘Dragon – Hymn of Decay’ at the Acropolis of Rhodes and the musical performance ‘Anthropo-leipsos’ at the Holy Monastery of Arkadi. Other venues for this phase included the Isachané Cultural Center, the archaeological site of Lerna, and the Mycenaean Acropolis of Tiryns. In Pieria, the Dion Archaeological Museum hosted activities regarding the role of wind in Greek literature and mythology, ~~including presentations on ancient wind instruments and the hydraulis of Dion.
