UFC 333 event in Abu Dhabi

Overview

The UFC 333 event held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi featured a featherweight matchup between Aaron Pico and Losene Keita. Keita, a former two-division Oktagon champion, entered the bout as a replacement for the injured Arnold Allen.

During the event, Aaron Pico secured a first-round TKO victory over Keita at 1:14 of the first round after landing a decisive right hand following an early takedown. Pico, an American wrestler, utilized early takedowns to establish control before finishing the contest with a barrage of ground-and-pound strikes. This victory improves Pico’s UFC record to 2-1 and his professional record to 15-5. Following the win, Pico called for a title opportunity or a rematch with Lerone Murphy, while criticizing certain fighters as “ranking squatters” for avoiding competitive matchups.

For Keita, the defeat marks his second loss in the UFC. In the lightweight division, Grant Dawson defeated Nurullo Aliev via unanimous decision. The fight included a point deduction for Aliev in the first round due to illegal strikes to the back of Dawson’s head.
