Brendan Allen defeats Christian Leroy Duncan at UFC Vegas 12

Overview

Brendan Allen defeated Christian Leroy Duncan via fifth-round rear-naked choke submission at UFC Vegas 122, held at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The middleweight main event was a highly competitive five-round contest.

Early in the bout, Duncan used striking and clinch work to pressure Allen against the fence. However, during the second round, referee Marc Goddard deducted a point from Duncan following an eye poke. While Duncan landed more significant strikes throughout the bout, Allen leveraged his grappling expertise to secure takedowns and control positions.

In the final round, Allen took Duncan’s back and applied a rear-naked choke, forcing the English fighter to tap out at 2:46 of the fifth frame. The victory extends Allen’s winning streak to four fights and strengthens his position within the middleweight rankings, moving him closer to title contention. The loss snapped Duncan’s five-fight winning streak.

Following the victory, Allen criticized Dricus du Plessis, claiming the fighter has engaged in “all talk” and expressing frustration regarding previously unfulfilled negotiations to fight him.

Other results from the event included Jai Herbert securing a unanimous decision victory over Matheus Camilo in the co-main event, Andre Fili defeating Kai Kamaka III via second-round knockout, and Otari Tanzilovi recording a knockout win against Malcolm Wellmaker. The event also marked the retirement of veteran middleweight Gerald Meerschaert following a TKO loss to Julius Walker.
