The Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is establishing a new campus in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, by renovating a former 11,000-square-meter factory. While 90 students are currently utilizing temporary facilities provided by the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), the university is expanding its staff. In addition to the 32 professors already hired, 18 more positions are expected through a public competition by January 2027, and the Ministry of Education has allocated 50 roles for teaching, leadership, and administrative functions.

The campus will utilize an innovative pedagogical model featuring interdisciplinary bachelor’s degrees. Initial programs include Science, Technology, and Innovation; Sciences and Humanities; and Arts. Students will select specific specializations during their second cycle, with planned areas of study including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Architecture, and Manufacturing Engineering.
