Ugandan women's football development

Overview

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has initiated efforts to advance women’s football through strategic planning and competitive league play.

In late August 2026, FUFA concluded a two-day stakeholder consultation workshop to develop a new four-year Women’s Football Strategy. Supported by FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme, the initiative seeks to address grassroots development, governance, and technical education to align with FUFA’s Vision 2025–2029. FIFA expert Thuba Sibanda noted that the objective is to translate structural progress into improved international results, such as youth team World Cup qualifications.

By late September 2026, the focus shifted to active competition within the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League. Matchday Two results included a 2-1 victory for She Corporate over Iganga United Women, a win for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Ladies against Makerere University WFC, and a goalless draw between defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies and She Maroons.
