Uiseong County administrative and economic initiatives

Uiseong County has implemented various administrative and economic initiatives aimed at regional support and fiscal management.

In late July, the county launched the 2027 Forest Income Support program to assist forest owners and producer groups with subsidies for soil amendment, organic fertilizer, and distribution infrastructure. Alongside this, a Carbon-Neutral Point registration event was introduced to provide cash incentives and eco-friendly items to residents who reduce electricity, water, and gas consumption. These measures were intended to help forest-dependent families recover livelihoods and promote low-carbon practices following recent forest fires.

By late August, local governance shifted toward fiscal scrutiny. Uiseong County Council member Kim Woo-jung called for a reform of the budget allocation for local festivals, criticizing the high costs of short-term entertainment events such as the Uiseong Summer Music Festa and the Sansuyu Festival. Kim advocated for greater transparency in contracting and suggested redirecting funds from celebrity-centered performances toward practical welfare and resident safety.
