Eligible individuals, often those earning near the £12,570 income tax threshold, will be notified via letter or their online personal tax account. While initial estimates suggested average payments of around £53, subsequent reports indicate payments often average approximately £70. Women are expected to comprise a significant portion of those affected.

HMRC has issued warnings to prevent recipients from mistaking official correspondence for scams. Authorities clarified that they will not contact individuals via text, email, or phone regarding these payments, and will never request PIN codes, passwords, or money transfers to facilitate the process.
